McLaren Northern has incorporated a strict 3 strike attendance policy to advocate for their patient population. Any RN contractor who is absent from a scheduled shift or is more than 20 minutes late for their scheduled shift 3 times will be terminated effective immediately. Situations such as a communicable disease or hospitalization with supporting evidence will be reviewed in favor of the contractor. This policy will begin on 6/1/2024.
House Supervisor
- Collaborate
with units to determine appropriate shift staffing capabilities. - Assist
unit team leaders with coordinating patient placement from Emergency
Department, procedure departments, and referring facilities. In
collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to place patients in an
optimal setting. - Act as
a resource to nursing staff for clinical skills, policy and procedures,
and other situations requiring leadership. - Facilitate
patient transfers in and out of McLaren Northern Hospital - In
conjunction with department leadership, identifies patient care delivery
issues, work processes, and equipment needs. - Applies
the adult learning principals to all education offerings. - Utilizes
research-based principals in the education of staff and patients. - Functions
as a role model/mentor and a clinical resource. - Supports
units on nursing needs, this may include taking an assignment, assisting
with transportation, and other nursing duties.
SWAT
- Hospital
wide SWAT Nurse who responds to patient care units to handle urgent or
emergency patient care needs. Provides emergency response as needed based
on specific unit needs, patient activity and crisis situations of an
intermittent nature. Additionally rounds as clinical support when not in
an urgent/emergent situation. - Responds
to medical emergency problems including Code Blue, Rapid Response, STEMI,
Trauma, Stroke, Code Grey, MTP, etc. Supports floor staff with concerns
regarding patient decline/clinical assessment. - The RN
will demonstrate the ability to quickly assess a patient when there has
been a change in status and help to monitor and provide intervention for
the patient. - Accompanies
Critical Care or monitored patients when they must be transported within
the hospital (ex. MRI, diagnostic tests, IR, ED to ICU/CVU) - Assist
floor staff with difficulty IV starts and utilize ultrasound guided IV
placement as needed. Assist floor staff with peritoneal dialysis as
needed. - The RN
is responsible for participating in the quality outcomes specific to the
units or hospital and adheres to all regulatory requirements. The RN
maintains a collaborative relationship with multiple disciplines within
the organization. - Interprets
and adheres to established policies, procedures, and safety practices of
McLaren Northern. - Adheres
to documentation policies and requirements. - Utilizes
good communication skills with patient, family, medical staff, and
personnel.
