Description:

Prepare, administer and measure radioactive isotopes in
therapeutic, diagnostic and tracer studies

utilizing a variety of radioisotope equipment. Prepare stock
solutions of radioactive materials and calculate and

administer doses. Subject patients to
radiation as prescribed by the Radiologist.

    • Consistently
      uses an outward mindset and puts forth exemplary effort in accomplishing
      his/her goals and objectives in a manner that helps others to achieve
      their goals and objectives.
    • Calculates, measures and records
      radiation dosage or radiopharmaceuticals received, used and disposed,
    • using computers and following
      physician’s prescription.
    • Detects and maps
      radiopharmaceuticals in patients’ bodies, using a camera to produce
      photographic or
    • computer images.
    • Explains test procedures and safety
      precautions to patients and provide them with assistance during test
    • procedures.
    • Administers radiopharmaceuticals or
      radiation to patients to detect diseases, using radioisotope equipment,
    • under direction of physician.
    • Produces a computer-generated or
      film image for interpretation by a physician.
    • Processes cardiac function studies.
    • Disposes of radioactive materials
      and stores radiopharmaceuticals following radiation safety procedures.
    • Prepares stock
      radiopharmaceuticals, adhering to safety standards that minimize radiation
      exposure to
    • workers and patients.
    • Maintains and calibrates
      radioisotope and laboratory equipment.
    • Gathers information on patients’
      illness and medical history to guide the choice of diagnostic procedures
      for
    • therapy.
    • Measures glandular activity, blood
      volume, red cell survival, and radioactivity of patient using scanners,
    • Geiger-counters, scintillometers and other laboratory
      equipment.
    • Train and supervise student of subordinate nuclear
      medicine technologists.
