This position is one of performing Respiratory Therapy modalities in a progressive health care environment. On a day-to-day basis, the therapist will often have to perform technical procedures on complex life support systems, and make on the spot decisions that affect patient care In a wide variety of settings from neonatal to geriatric. The therapist also has the responsibility for assuring that all prescribed therapy is performed with quality.

Adequate knowledge of pharmacology pertaining to all medications administered
Patient assessment and subsequent delivery of appropriate Respiratory Care per protocol and physician order, including but not limited to:
•Ventilator management and weaning of patients on invasive and noninvasive life support, Continuous Ventilators, BIPAP, CPAP,
• Oxygen administration
• Delivery of aerosolized medications via MDI, Nebulizer, or other devices
• Hyperinflation therapy, Incentive Spirometry, IPPB,
• Diagnostic procedures, Bronchoscopy, Obtaining Arterial, Vanous and Capillary Blood Samples, Blood Gas Analysis, Sputum Induction, Bedside Spirometry,
• Secretion Management, Chest Physical Therapy, IPV, Bland Aerosol. USN
• Patient monitoring, Pulse Oximetry, End Tidal C02 Conscious Sedation, Apnea Monitors.
• Airway management and cardiac support during “”codes””
• Patient Instruction Of Breathing Exercises, Home Routine,
• Neonatal Therapy And Ventilatory Care
• Procedures required subsequent to implementation of work redesign
Complete and accurate documentation of all therapy performed in Medical Record and in departmental records as required.
Maintaining current knowledge of, and complying with clinical and administrative policies and procedures of Respiratory Services Department and the Medical Center.
Maintaining good rapport with physicians, nursing staff, patients, relatives, and visitors on an individual basis. Notifying supervisor and/or physicians of any order that is considered to be unreasonable or In error.
Document completely and accurately, all therapy administered
Record all therapy given in the departmental records.
Discuss with supervisor, manager, and/or technical director any case that poses unusual problems or circumstances
Evaluate patient response to therapy. Compare with objectives.
Advise Clinical Nurse Specialist of patients who might benefit from their services.
Pick up and return to department any therapy equipment that has been discontinued.
Accept special assignments from the supervisor as needed.
Attend all inservice education classes, conference sessions, and staff meetings.
Respond to and assist with, as appropriate and directed, all “”Code Blue”” calls.
EDUCATIONEquivalent experience will be accepted in lieu of the required degree or diploma.HS Diploma
Other: Graduate from an accredited school of Respiratory Therapy
