This position functions in the Department of Interventional Radiology as an integral member of our team approach to patient care. The Interventional Radiology Technologist, in collaboration with physicians and nurses, strives to provide high quality care to every patient coming through the unit. Daily assignments vary due to the range of procedures that may be completed from central line placements to embolizations and strokes. The patient population varies from neonates to geriatrics adding another unique layer to the care provided in the unit. This position rotates between the dual locations of IR which include the South Waterfront/CHH2 as well as the 11A unit of the main OHSU Hospital building with call requirements.
The IR Technologist provides direct patient care using medical imaging techniques to help the Interventionalist in diagnosis and/or treatment. Provides assistance with radiographic procedures to demonstrate vascular and non-vascular structures for interpretation and/or therapeutic intervention. Delivers appropriate patient care and recognizes patient conditions essential for successful completion of the procedure. Ensures the radiation safety for all patients as well as the other team members involved in the procedure.
