Retail Pharmacist – 2 Openings (Evening Shift)
Location: 3250 South 76th Street, Suite 400, Philadelphia, PA 19153
Shift: 4:00 PM – 12:30 AM
License Requirement: PA Pharmacist License (Active)
Experience Required: Recent retail pharmacy experience (CVS, Walgreens, etc.)
About the Role:
We are seeking dedicated and detail-oriented Retail Pharmacists to join our closed-door pharmacy team. In this role, you will be responsible for processing, preparing, and dispensing prescriptions while ensuring patient safety, medication accuracy, and regulatory compliance.
This position offers the opportunity to transition to a full-time staff role at the end of the contract based on performance and business needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Pharmacy Operations: Process, prepare, and dispense prescriptions, including third-party insurance claim adjudication, documentation, and record retention.
Medication Review & Safety: Monitor patient profiles, conduct drug utilization reviews, and assess medication appropriateness, duplicate therapy, interactions, and side effects.
Patient & Provider Communication: Provide clear and timely communication with patients, prescribers, nurses, and pharmacy staff regarding medications, safety, and operational needs.
Customer Service: Ensure proper customer interactions at drop-off/pick-up windows, phone stations, and filling/checking counters.
Regulatory Compliance: Maintain pharmacy security, adhere to health system policies, and comply with all state and federal pharmacy laws.
Immunization & Emergency Response: Administer injectables/vaccines when applicable and participate in managing medical emergencies.
Leadership & Supervision: Oversee pharmacy technicians and assume management responsibilities in the absence of the pharmacy manager.
Operational Flexibility: Travel and provide staffing support to all HUP pharmacy locations as needed.
Qualifications:
PA Pharmacist License – Must be active and in good standing.
Retail Pharmacy Experience – Recent experience in a retail setting (CVS, Walgreens, etc.) is required.
Strong Attention to Detail – Ability to ensure accuracy in medication dispensing and patient safety.
Excellent Communication Skills – Comfortable interacting with healthcare professionals, patients, and pharmacy staff.
Ability to Work Independently & in a Team – Leadership skills to oversee technicians and manage pharmacy operations when needed.
Flexibility to Travel – Must be willing to travel between HUP pharmacy locations as operational needs arise.
