Blanchard Valley Health System is seeking a Pediatric Hospitalist to join their teamOBlanchard Valley Health System is a regional community non-profit serving an eight-county community in Findlay, NW Ohio. They welcome new grads and experienced physicians to consider our Pediatric Hospitalist opportunity.

Job Description:

  • Responsible for Level IIB Special Care Nursery.
  • Required to round on pediatric inpatients, well babies, and special care nursery.
  • Perform procedures including circumcisions, frenotomy, lumbar puncture, intubation, and UVC placement.
  • Manage infants born at 32 weeks and above, including CPAP, surfactant, and ventilator care.
  • Average of 1,000 deliveries per year.
  • Average daily census: 12 patients, including 2 pediatric inpatients, 8 well newborns, and 4 special care.
  • Emergency department consults and limited outpatient medical consults.
  • Provide newborn care and attend high-risk deliveries.
  • Six 24-hour shifts per 28-day block.
  • 48-hour shifts from 8 am Saturday to 8 am Monday.
  • All call is in-house with access to a call room.
  • Average number of patients per day: 8-10.
  • Types of cases include well babies, low-acuity pediatric patients (reactive airway, RSV, dehydration), special care for 32 weeks and up, and ER consults.
  • Preference for candidates with an Ohio license.
  • Must be NRP and PALS certified.
  • Preference for candidates trained in circumcision and frenotomy.
  • Support staff includes floor nurses and a pediatric educator.
  • Sole provider on duty.
  • Nationwide Children’s Hospital collaborative partnership with access to pediatric specialists, research, and clinical trials.
  • Local administration and decision-making with invested leadership seeking input.
  • Preference for candidates within driving distance; hotel accommodations may be provided for multiple-day commitments.
  • Will not accept candidates with lapsed Board Certification who need to obtain it again
  • This is a permanent position that may require residency within the immediate local area.  Relocation may be required.  To be discussed at interview.
  • Must be BC/BE, with eligibility within 5 years post-training and certification within 3 years of eligibility.

  • Clean malpractice and license are required.
