Title: Temp – Administrative – Financial Advocate / Patient Access Representative (Days) Robbinsdale, MN

Description: The Financial Advocate’s primary function is to perform a thorough financial screening of patients. The Financial Advocate is also North Memorial’s primary contact for patient education in areas of insurance benefits, levels of coverage, and billing and collection processes. Responsibilities include ensuring that all accounts have been cleared for billing, obtaining insurance authorization for services, securing payment arrangements (including collection of co-payment/coinsurance) prior to patient discharge and for major outpatient services, identification of other potential payment sources (including Financial Assistance program, initiating/completing the Medical Assistance application process), and providing costs estimates.

• Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Effective organizational skills, including ability to prioritize, problem solve, and resolve conflict.
• Excellent communication skills, especially when interacting with patients and families.
• Advanced knowledge of insurance, including government assistance programs.
• Must be able to work under considerable stress, using tact and diplomacy.
