This is a small community hospital (it is not a pediatric intensive
care unit). The census is 3. There is not a second nurse scheduled for the unit. The maximum number of patients is 3. There is backup from Family Birthplace staff, and travelers have a security badge with a panic button to get immediate help. There are also respiratory and IV therapists that can cover the unit.
Our experienced Pediatric nurses understand the unique needs of children and adolescents, and the importance of family involvement in their care. We provide “rooming in” for parents who wish to remain with their child during the hospital stay. To help make the visit more pleasant, we have on hand a variety of “in room” games and videos, as well as a play room for those with no contagious illness.
Non-billable orientation: 8hrs
OT and Holiday Multipliers: 1.25%
